Ergonomics and musculoskeletal

How is musculoskeletal risk assessed?

Three things are measured: posture (how far a joint deviates from neutral), force (how hard the effort is) and repetition (how often it happens). Combined with duration these produce the risk; none of them is sufficient alone.

Four axes

A poor posture held briefly may not matter; a good posture repeated for hours does. So the assessment reads four axes together: posture (neck, back, arm and wrist angles), force (the load lifted, pushed or gripped), repetition (movements per minute) and duration (the task's share of the shift). Different work types have different scoring tools: whole body, upper limb, pushing and pulling, and display screen work are each handled separately.

Turning complaints into data

The earliest signal comes not from measurement but from the worker. A short complaint survey by body area shows where the cluster is — which unit, which task — and the assessment is aimed there. Ergonomics work done without collecting complaints usually improves the wrong place.

In Optifora the complaint survey, the task assessment and the improvement tracking sit in one chain.

Manage this in Optifora

Optifora is not a single program but a compliance platform assembled from modules. The catalogue states which module is ready today and which is on the roadmap.
