It is a guideline, not a certifiable standard. It asks for no new method; it applies the familiar risk management cycle to risks that arise from the work itself.
What it asks for
A psychosocial hazard is not a personality trait but a condition of work design: workload, how much say a person has over their work, support from managers and colleagues, conflict in relationships, role clarity, and how change is managed. Because they are design conditions, they can be fixed.
- Identify the domainsDemands, control, support, relationships, role and change are each handled separately.
- Measure with a validated scaleA survey with invented questions produces results that cannot be benchmarked or defended.
- InterpretA low-scoring domain is interpreted by talking to small groups from that unit; the number is not read alone.
- Tie it to an action planIf the result is not tied to an action plan and a re-measurement, the survey lowers trust rather than raising it.
- Protect confidentialityParticipation is voluntary and results are aggregated so that they cannot be traced back to a person.
This guideline is not subject to certification; it runs inside the occupational health and safety management system.
