What changes for a pregnant or breastfeeding worker?

From the moment it is notified, the risk assessment is reopened for that person; a general assessment is not enough.

It starts with notification

The process starts when the worker notifies their situation. Once notified, that person's work, exposures and working pattern are assessed separately. The general risk assessment does not stand in for this.

What is examined

Heavy lifting and awkward posture; prolonged standing; exposure to chemical and biological agents and radiation; vibration; extremes of heat and cold; night work and shift patterns; lone working and ease of evacuation in an emergency.

A three-step approach

First, removing the risk at source is attempted. If that is not possible, working conditions or hours are adjusted. If that too fails, a move to another suitable role is considered. Skipping the order and ending the role outright falls outside this approach.

Confidentiality

The information is shared only with those who need it. While the outcome shows in the work arrangement, the whole reason for it need not be spread.

In Optifora

Health surveillance and risk assessment work together: the notification opens a separate assessment for that person, any restriction shows at assignment, and the case stays tracked until it closes.

  1. Record the notificationRecord it with its date and open the assessment.
  2. Review the exposureExamine the agents and the working pattern of that role one by one.
  3. Try removal at sourceFirst consider eliminating the risk at its source.
  4. Adjust the conditionsWhere needed, adapt working conditions and hours.
  5. Consider a change of roleIf the first two are not enough, consider another suitable role.
  6. Close the caseUpdate the assessment when the situation changes and close the record.

Manage this in Optifora

Optifora is not a single program but a compliance platform assembled from modules. The catalogue states which module is ready today and which is on the roadmap.
