Risk score calculator: Fine-Kinney and the 5×5 matrix

5×5 matrix
Risk score = probability × severity, from 1 to 25. There is no international normative source for this method's scale definitions or band limits; the bands are defined according to the size and complexity of the organisation, approved by top management, documented and reviewed regularly.
The thresholds here are not defaults; they are the values you entered. Without your organisation's own band definition, the colour shown corresponds to no regulation or standard.
Why the two methods give different answers
Fine-Kinney treats exposure as a separate multiplier: with the same likelihood and consequence, a job where the hazard is met every day scores twenty times higher than one met once a year. In the 5×5 matrix exposure is not a separate axis; it is absorbed into probability. That is why Fine-Kinney suits work where continuous exposure drives the risk, while the matrix suits quick, coarse prioritisation.
