Who first
Monitoring is done to understand the exposed person, not the room. The task with the highest exposure is identified and the monitoring planned to represent it. A single sample from a random point represents nobody.
When and how long
Monitoring is done at real working pace and for a representative period. A measurement taken in the quietest hour of a shift shows exposure lower than it is. The duration must match the period defined by the limit the result will be compared with.
What the result means
The result is a decision, not a number: is the exposure acceptable, is a control needed, should monitoring be repeated. A result below the limit is also a decision and is recorded with its reasoning.
After monitoring
The result returns to health surveillance and the risk assessment. If it stays in a file and does not change the examination programme, it is as if no monitoring took place.
In Optifora
The measurement record matches to a task and a person; the result ties to the health surveillance schedule and the risk assessment, and the repeat date is reminded.
