What does a vocational qualification certificate prove?

That the holder meets the defined competences of an occupation, measured by examination.

Difference from a training certificate

A training certificate shows attendance; a qualification certificate shows the defined competences were met in an examination. The second rests on measured performance.

What it means for the employer

It is an externally verified record that the person can do the job. After an accident, the question "could this person do this work" is answered from here.

Validity

It has a term and a renewal regime. An expired certificate is treated as one that never existed.
